Mudika Indonesia Winter 2004 Retreat
This year a retreat for the members of "MUDIKA Indonesia" - Indonesian Catholic Youth Group - was held between 3rd and 5th July 2004 in Knock Na Gree, Henderson. It is a small beautiful, quiet place adjacent to a narrow slow flowing creek and a beautiful natural surrounding that kept the place into a heaven of serenity; a perfect place for a retreat. The weather is also excellent, not too hot, little bit cold though but it was very pleasant. This retreat was hosted by our priest, Father Sylvinus Senan or Father Sylvin for short, a very charming, welcoming and funny guy.

The first event is the welcoming session, where we could meet and get to know all of the attendees. This is not just simply a get to know session but we were taught that we had to care about other people in order to know them. It was a 2 hour of an awesome and full of fun session then followed by a free time where we choose our room and roommates. After we had had our refreshment, we had our first session. In that session, we learnt that we had to thoughtfully choose our action as it will reflect in our future. We exercise this by stating our objectives and wishes of attending the retreat. Afterwards, we enjoy a wonderful dinner prepared by the parent one of the participant then, we had a recreation session which was full of fun. We played all sorts of games led by Father Sylvin.

One of those games edified us the importance of self esteem and confidence. As you see at the picture, before the selected people of ours were blinded, we let them think that they will walk thru a field of cups, where actually we cleared up those cups before they walk thru it.

The next day, was opened by a mass, followed by the breakfast. After we all were charged up, we moved to the second session of the retreat. In that session we were put in groups to shared our problems. Then, coached on how to examine and solve those problems as well as our personal problems. It was a very helpful session for the participants, who were teenagers, and was very well delivered. Since the breakfast do not filled up the attendants so lunch was the next event. Later on, we continue to the third session; where we discuss about God's love. Father Sylvin strikes our chord of how god has loved us throughout our live.

Next to our third session was another recreation session. Then, continued by a rosary prayer. This time, we had to do it by our own since Father Sylvin had to deliver a mass at his parish. Though by the end of the rosary most of the participant was hungry, we had to wait a little bit longer because our dinner wasn't ready yet. So, we do some games session which turn out to be very fun. Then, the most anticipated event of the day was ready and everyone enjoyed their dinner. Subsequently, we had another gaming session which was divided into two parts.

The first part, we played a game led by one of our peer. This game showed us the importance of team work. With a good team work, you could excel beyond the limit. The second part, we played heaps of games conducted by our priest, it was also a great event. Then, at 11 o'clock we close the night.

Seems that 11 o'clock was still too early to call the night, so most of us kept awake and do other activities such as playing games, had some chit-chat and peer discussion. Some even had supper.

The third and final day was opened by "morning prayer". Most of the participants were too sleepy neither to stay awake nor to concentrate, though it was a good session and very well presented. Next to morning prayer, subsequently held was breakfast and the fourth session dubbed "To be a new person". Here we were coached to be a man full of love, because with love, we will be a man full of passion and could satiate our life better. Then, before lunch and closing mass, we had our final event, a reconciliation one. At that event, we were asked to forgive people's misdeed and also ask for forgiveness for our sins, especially our parents.

Soon after we had had our closing mass and lunch, we started to clean up the place and prepare our self to go home and carry on with our live. Hopefully inspired and motivated with the points we had learnt from the retreat.
