INTERNATIONAL WEEK 2004 -- DUNEDIN, Jul 31 - Aug 8, 2004.
Every year during August (usually), there is an event called International week hold by the Otago University Student Association (OUSA). The purpose of this event is to introduce the diverse cultures that exist in Otago to the local community and other students. International week started with the cultural parade with our nation flag "merah putih" along the main street of Dunedin (George St), followed with greetings from different languages and performances at the Octagon.
During this International week, lots of things happened like eating competition, cooking demo, speech competition, talent quest and it ends with food festival and drink festival. This year ICA (Indonesian Community Association) presented a dance called "Puspita", we entered speech competition and talent quest. One of ICA's members won the third place in speech competition and a group of girls from ICA who entered talent quest won the merit award. We are proud with their achievements :
The highlight of international week is the drink festival and food festival, which were combined as one event this year . ICA is famous for our sate, we were sold out in two hours :, we also made bakwan which as famous as our satay. For the drink menu, we made es campur this year. It was a very successful weekend. International week is always fun for us because everybody work together and help each other "gotong royong", telling jokes and just catching up with one another, it made us closer with one another.
